Which Software Program To Have/get

Roofer

Recommended Posts

I used to use photodeluxe and it was easy for me to use. Since I now have a new vista operated computer, I have to find something new. Paint seems confusing to me. I want to make some backgrounds for some pictures I have. Any suggestions?

The Gimp is freeeeeeee.

Gimp.org

And because it's free and open source, you can download extensions for it...Such as the one that turns its mildly anti-user-friendly interface into one about identical to Photoshop.

Nut, what version of gimp do you have/prefer? Im at the homepage and skimmed thru everything, and theres quiet a few versions/manuals. From what I've read gimp 2.2 is the only solid version until 2.3 comes out.

I just want to learn how to do some minor stuff like signatures, wheels, hoods ect. Is 2.2 good for that kind of stuff?

It's every bit as powerful as Photoshop, maybe even more so because it's open source, and lots of people make extensions for it.

But I use Photoshop for most of my stuff, I rarely use The Gimp any more...Heck I probably have 2.0 or something. I DO find that text is easier with Gimp for some reason...At least to me.

Same here...I couldn't even tell if I had the d@mn thing installed right-side up or not...

I accidentally closed one of the 2 tool bar menus, and couldnt bring it back up. Everytime I closed the program and re-opened it, it became harder and harder to use.
