how do you adjust door hinges?

Recommended Posts

both the doors on my '94 are out of adjustment.  i think the hinges are just sagging but since the hinges are welded and not bolted, i don't know how to fix it.  i have to slam the begeezus out of the doors to get them to close, it's harder when the windows are rolled up.

i've heard that you have to 'bend' the hinges by taking a jack or something and tweeking the hinges.  i'm not really thrilled about that idea.  is that the only way to do this?  what have you guys done in the past that has worked?  looking for anything here.

Clutchdust,

First change the hinge pin bushings and hinge pins, then tweak the door hinges if needed. The stricker may also need adjusting to achieve the correct fit.

By tweeking he means they use aspecial tool to bend the hinges.
