Mr Lucky gets nailed again!

Recommended Posts

Well, my sh$t luck has bit me again. Yesterday on the way to work the car in front of me kicked up a rock. Yup, you guessed it; I got a ding in my windshield. Thankfully, it was about 3 inches above the passengers side wiper so it wasn't too bad. Well, this morning on the way to work it happened again! Only this time it was on the drivers side, right in front of my face. And, of course, this one is the size of my thumbnail so I'm going to have to get the windshield replaced. And you can add to the list a chip in the hood from another rock that's been kicked up off the highway! All in less then 3 months. Makes me wonder what other lovely crap I'm in for with this truck...:D

I feel for ya.  Unless you chase down the driver who did it, you're S.O.L.

I had this happen to me in my Aurora last year.  By the time I got to work, it had spidered.  Express auto glass came out and put a new one in, but because Aurora's are a difficult car to install them in, he busted the new one in the process.  So I had to wait another week with the freshly busted windshield while he got another one.

Sorry to hear that.  It always seems to be a beat up old car that does that, too.  After you get a couple of more, then just replace it and everything will be okay.  It could have been worse.

Yeah, seems like they always happen in pairs or threes . . . .

Sorry to hear about it.  I had a pretty bad one a couple of Summers ago, and the rock seemed to come from up high - really put a golf-ball size shatter area right in the middle of the windshield.  Had it replaced (Allstate has coverage), and I swear not a week later got another one 2 inches below it, but much smaller.  It's still there, as they "repaired" it.  Of course about 1 year later I get a large one, again near the center this time out in Utah behind a gravel truck.  Haven't fixed either yet.

It's not uncommon in Detroit area to be dodging bouncing gravel as it falls out of gravel haulers or construction trucks.

Not uncommon anywhere in MI, since our roads suck donkey balls.  D@mn gravel truck let a rock fly and it hit my hood.....I was sooooooo pissed.  I wasn't tailgating either, roughly 3 1/2 car lengths away to avoid exactly what happened.  Still makes my blood boil.

Ben there, done that!!  Just replaced my windshield as I now have the "BLACK BEAUTY" up for sale & didn't want to sell it with a chipped windshield.  I live in Mi. & have $50 deductable BUT that was waivered.  Didn't cost me a PENNY!!  Howard   :D  :D

Scary Guy - I wouldn't disagree there!

Howard, sorry to hear you're unloading Black Beauty - she's truly that!

Speaking of gravel, had an "interesting" situation a few years ago in metro Chicago - this particular gravel truck was "hauling" down the tollway and apparently wasn't buttoned up tight and was dropping a fairly large, but steady stream of cherry to golf ball sized, ROUND stones out, and it was actually comical, if not dangerous watching everybody dodging these "balls" that went bouncing all over!!!

If you know Chicago traffic, then you'd know why this was pretty funny.

I got one on the hood and 2 more bounced off my windshield.  No cracks though - I was lucky.  Everybody was flashing more than lights at this guy as they passed!!

SC has a "No deductible" glass replacement law.  The insurance company can classify it as a claim though.  If you have 3 or more "claims" in a 5 year period "on your policy", you qualify for "high risk" status.  This will cause a loss of any safe driver discounts AND a 10-20% increase in premium.

I found this out when my mother had her windshield replaced 2 years after I had mine replaced and 3 years after my sister had hers replaced (3 "claims" in less than 5 years on ONE policy)

They SNEAKED this one in on us.
