kanton1
Last night I noticed that my 8100 seemed to be governed at 3000 rpm while neutral. It acted like the fuel was cut off or the computer did not let the engine rev further. this was even with my foot to the floor. however, when driving it will rev much higher until the alli shifts is this normal for the big block? Thanks, kyle
ClawSS
Mine does the same...I am sure it is a programming "feature" to save the engine from...uh...well...people like me that would rev over 3000rpm in neutral.
CMNTMXR81
GM has been using this feature for years particularly in FWD applications. It's to save the motor from being overrevved while in park or primarily nuetral for instance if you are trying to free a stuck vehicle, shifting between reverse and drive. Once in a gear, the PCM acts as normal.
