Help with 2500HD order

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know a person "inside" GM, or know who to complain to about a messed up truck order? I ordered a Silverado 2500HD on 4/20 from my local Chevy dealer. He took my money and ordered the truck -- I got a Sales Order Number (SON) and everything. Well, 4 weeks later I still had no Targeted Production Week (TPW) for the build. Frantic calls by me to both GM and the dealer have gotten me to realize this; basically, I got screwed big time. Seems the dealer "forgot about the memo", the one that supposedly said the last date to order a 2500HD with the 8100/Allison combo was 4/8 -- over 2 weeks before he took my order! Funny thing about that is he won't fax me a copy of the memo. Hmm...

Anyway, I've seen other people post on various message boards about there orders -- one of which was just a day or two before mine -- and they're getting the trucks they ordered (no Duramaxes). I called 3 other dealers near me and all of them have said the last day to order 2500HD's was 5/8, not 4/8 like my schmuck dealer is telling me, so I should have been able to get it.

I called the GM 800 number 3 or 4 times, but they really don't give a crap that the dealer messed something up. AAMOF, they don't even work for GM -- they're subcontractors! -- so all I hear is the standard company line; "sorry, your out of luck". They won't escalate it to a manager (if there even is one around). They won't even tell me the name of an executive I can try to get involved in this dispute, they just keep telling me to get it resolved with the dealer. Well, if that was possible I sure wouldn't need 'customer service' (and I use that term loosely, because they have done nothing to resolve this problem).

So, what I'm looking for is the name/phone number of a person who can fix whatever is wrong here (which neither the dealer or GM has even told me what the problem is). Perhaps there's another forum member you knows how to resolve this, or has been through it and found the magic trick to get the dealer and/or GM to get off there fat @ss and fix the problem, before it's too late and there is no more 02 production. I *really* want the Silverado 2500HD -- and my current truck has over 150,000 miles on it now, so I can't wait too much longer -- but if I don't break the log jam very soon then I will truly be out of luck. Any help would be appreciated!

sorry to hear about this Jim, if this was happening to me (and I hope it is not) I would feel the same as you.  I saw your last reply to my post, about checking on my order.  I am wondering if I am ok since they have given me a Targeted Production Week, I never asked for the Sales Order Number.  I also wanted to make a change and they told me once it was on the schedule that was it - no changes, that is how it is going to be made - so hopefully I will get mine in about a month.

I hope you get things worked out and get your truck.  Surely someone who posts here is a dealer who is not afraid to tell you the truth about what is going on rather than protecting a fellow dealer who, by the looks of things, is doing bad business.

What truck did you order?   Anything special/hard to find?  I have seen several for sale around here, not sure if they were 8100's or not, I kind of doubt it, most I have seen are either 6.0's or Duramax, but maybe someone here can help you find the truck you want on a dealers lot instead of ordering it.

Update: I just spoke with the area GM rep, and I now know what the problem is; the dealer didn't have allocation left when he took my money, and he knew that 2 weeks before I ordered it. So basically, I'm screwed. I saved for almost 3 years to be able to afford a 'maxed out' truck and these b*stards took that away from me. Saying I'm livid would be putting it lightly...

JimWilson,

Really sorry to hear of your problem - sounds like they really did screw you big-time.  :D

If it were me, and I had proof the dealer knew he couldn't order one, and took my money anyway, I'd go see the BBB and/or state attorney general's office.  Especially if they give you ANY guff about refunding your deposit.

Definitely find another dealer.  Good luck man!

kennedycpa, generally if you get a TPW, they won't change anything, and it's pretty much a fact that the vehicle will be built.  Maybe someone here knows differently, but that's how a source, in the know, explained it to me.

Sounds like a friendly letter from your retained legal team will be in order if you didn't get your deposit back.  That's just bad business.  It's standard operating procedure to give back your deposit, especially since they screwed up.  Reporting them to the BBB will also be in order I presume.
