I've towed without them, and believe me, you can't see a thing.  You will be blind from the front of the trailer box back.  I know the clip-ons or slide-on mirrors are ugly and vibrate a bit, but they do allow you to see.  Walmart sells towing mirrors for a decent price.  Check them out...

I've pulled an eight foot GN stock trailer, sure is hard as #### to see behind you compared to our seven footer (and I'm used to pulling stuff that block all rearward view).  It can be done, all I had was the stock mirrors and I didn't wreck any thing, but backing up was an adventure.  Do yourself a favor and get them, well worth the extra few bucks.

I pulled the 5th wheel (8' wide) exactly once before installing the Lucerix mirrors.  Going forward was not too bad, but I couldn't tell when the trailer was sraight behind me when I tried to back up...made the guy spotting me think I was drunk because all of a sudden I forgot how to back a trailer.  One little dent in the trailer and whatever you hit with it will cost way more than the price of cheap towing mirrors.  Go get some.

i got aftermarket add-on extensions..the h/d is new for this year camping and i forgot all about it until 3 days before the trip..i knew it would have been tough but figured if i got a few people to say, aaaahhhhh dont worry about it then i would have felt better doing it..52 bucks later and im all set
