I just found out

Recommended Posts

I just talked to the dealer that ordered my truck (2002 2500HD CC 4X4) and it is scheduled to be built June 10th and they said it should be to them about ten days after, so I should have my truck on or around June 20th.  I can't wait.  I guess I have a month to figure out what spray in bed liner, step bars, bug shield, etc I want to get.  Any suggestions? I already have a guy who wants to buy the stock 245's if I go ahead and get new tires as soon as it comes in, I really like the looks of the 285's, any suggestions on which ones to get?  I really need a good combination of low cost and long tread life.

This truck is going to be such a huge change from the 2wd 92 S-10 I have been have been driving for almost 10 years, but I hope it is as reliable as the S-10, it has never failed me, only time it has not started when I turned the key is when I left the stereo on all night on a camping trip and the 4.3 still makes me grin some times when I really get on it, it will still smoke a tire  and leave a long black mark with out any trouble.  If I was still single and not starting a family I would keep on driving it but it is just too small for a family, but I am going to keep it for the 30 minute drive to work.

Congradulations kennedycpa! If you ordered the Duramax/Allison combo, you might want to hang on to the factory wheels since the GM will not warranty any drivetrain related failure due to the "non-stock" wheels. There has been a lot of discussion on this subject. 8.1/Allison, 6.0, manual and 4L80 are O.K I think! Do a search.

Mind if I take you up on that offer as well? According to the salesman, my order number -- which, oddly enough, contains no numbers, only letters ??? -- is: FGPTNP. Is that what you need?

Howard or Pontiac will need your TPW as well before he can add you to his "watch for list"  You should be able to get that by calling customer care (1-800-462-8782 for GMC or 1-800-222-1020 for Chevy) with your order "number" and they will put you on hold for a while and then tell you your TPW. :D

When your TPW finally happens send Howard an e-mail and he'll keep you informed about the status of your truck. :D

I've been through it twice, and it was fun both times!

I know I'm not stepping on toes when I tell you this, because Howard enjoys doing it.  So go ahead, the more members of "Howard's Happy Campers" the better.

Thanks for the info. That helped me find out that no one knows what's going on!  :D

The dealer told me they didn't have a date yet. When I called the 800 number those folks said it hadn't been "accepted" yet. He explained that they received the order, but have no idea when it will be scheduled. I asked him if there was going to be any problem getting it setup before the production run for 02's shuts down (I really don't like the look of the 03) and he said he wasn't sure.

This truck was ordered exactly 1 month ago. Does anyone know how long it takes to get "accepted"?

:omg: Uh Oh!

On my first try we waited 2 months for my dealer to have allocation before my order was "accepted". :( The second try, at a dealer that HAD an allocation it took less than a day. :)

Once it was accepted it took 5 weeks to be scheduled, ??? but the TPW was the 6th week! :D  With Howard's help it was shipped on Tuesday of the TPW  and in the dealership in Denver the next tuesday.

Unfortunately I think you are stuck in the old waiting for allocation holding pattern...and you may or may not get a 2002.  It's time to get on GMbuypower and start searching for a truck that will work.  (You can use mapquest to determine the zip codes of likely locations).  Or if you want to come to Denver I can give yo the name of a dealer that at least twice (once for a friend and once for me) had allocation immediately available for these trucks. (EC LB D/ZF Chevy for friend, CC SB D/ZF GMC for me).

Thanks for the remarks!!  It is like they said, I sent you an message.  You can ask your dealer "HOW MANY ALLOCATIONS THEY GET & HOW MANY ARE LEFT? "  You can also look at 25-3500 allocations in = www.thedieselpage.com These are dealers that advertise trucks either on the lot or ones that have an allocation.  They can change some of the opts. on these soon to be built trucks & they will drop-ship anywhere in U.S. for a fee!!  As close as you are to the 2002 cut-off date = 6/23, I would look at this options ESPECIALLY if you don't get the right answers from your dealer!!  Howard :D  :D  :D

Mine was to be built on 5-13-02 (TPW)  Last week I learned that it was moved to 6-3-02.  We shall see what happens.  My dealer is in a new location and did npt have any problems with allocations.  Or so he says.  If anyone sees a CC, LWB, D/A, 4x4, Drk Carmine Red w/ Tan interior.  Let me know.  There are a few, but getting it to South Texas is another thing.   I guess I will wait if I have to, but it is hard. :ehh:

I placed my order about 3 weeks ago

Do you remember the exact date? I ordered a 2500HD on 4/20 and the dealer is now telling me that I'm out of luck, the last day to order an 02 was 4/8 (why this @sshole took my order in the first place is beyond me, and it's borderline fraud too). According to 3 other dealers I spoke with the last day for the 02's was 5/8. I have a SON, but GM is saying no TPW because it hasn't been "accepted". The dealer is jerking me around, but if I have an idea of when you ordered yours (and, if you don't mine divulging the information, what state your in) I might have enough ammo to force the dealer to do his freakin job and get my truck.   :D
