Meeting with Gm on friday

Recommended Posts

well went to the metting with gm on friday at my dealer.. My faith in gm is back. i found out alot of info on oil consuption and other issues i have with the 8.1l vortec.. well the reason i was given that inorder for them to get and have a more powerful truck and get better mpg as well as longivity. they put low tension rings in the truck. so that everything they wanted would be achieved. they had to sacrifice something so they figured 1-2 quarts per 3k miles was ok. it was a pretty informed metting and as the result of that i have my 8.1 back and waiting on a dmax. that i hope to have by the end of today or tomorrow. they seem to think that the 8.1 will get better as it gets older and after talkign with them i think that is true. the dodge i had last week the guys at the dealership tried to draft more than 4k dollars from my account that was over the agreed amount i was PIssed!!!! believe me. so i got my truck back and gave them a piece of my mind(i wasnt nice at all)))!!!  anyway! i hope this info helps out some of you guys. because knowing whats going on is better than guessing. i also found out that making the engine (lose) gave us the awesome power these engines produce. and he told me that last years 454 got a best of about 8mpg this year with the 8.1 we average a little of 13.. and about 8 hauling.. so thats once again is the reason the engine was built lose.

I'm glad you have a better piece of mind now.  I know you'll be thrilled with the new Dmax!!!  :D

Were you able to get a decent deal on the new truck?  I know you were several thousand dollars apart before you took the Dodge for a test ride...

what do you mean when you swiss cheesed the air box?

Glad it worked out for you!  Nice to finally hear a reason for the oil consumption problem some of you guys are having..  Did you ask them about the knock?  :D

I have never had to add oil to mine between changes and no knocking yet..  :D

I guessing "swiss cheesing" = drilling a bunch of holes in the front of the airbox.
