center cap difference

Recommended Posts

Are the center caps that come with the base models different than the ones that come with the LS model?  I have the silver caps and was going to see if they fit on my mickey thompson challenger wheels.  They wouldn't.  But Gandolphxx said his fit.  And they do.  Looking at his pictures you can see he's telling the truth.  He has an Avalanche.

But the ones that came with my pickup don't.  Are the center caps that come with the base models different than the ones that come with the LS models or Avalanche?

Hey reg cab, the center caps on your's look like mine but I'm not sure 'cause your pic is from far away.

Would a pic of mine close-up help you out?

Just let me know, happy to help a fellow TEXAN... even if you're a farmer.

Yeah i had 285's (BFG Mud-Terrains) on my 99 Z-71 and when I traded in the Z I kept the tires but ended up selling them 'cause I didnt really think they would fit and i wanted a less aggressive tire on this truck (BFG All-Terrain).

Anyway, thanks for your help.

Hopefully somebody out there will know if you can fit the 285's w/o crankin the T-bars.

Hey Firetiger,  thanks for the picture.  Judging from it, I believe the center caps are different.  On my factory wheels they seem to be countersunk where they bolt up.  Your aluminum wheels dont' seem to be countersunk.  So the caps from the aluminum wheels should fit my MT Challenger wheels.

And HD, I wouldn't put 285s on my truck.  I was going to put 285s on but when I went to talk to my dealer about it,  he said "No".  He said it would void the warranty.  He said 265s are ok because they are an option but 285s will void the warranty.

Some people say their dealers say 285s are ok but mine said they weren't.

Thanks reg cab, I guess i might have to settle for the 265's.

It is just kinda hard to justify spending $750-$800 for a set of tires that are just one size bigger.

i've also been thinkin about 235/85's, i think they are about 1/2" skinnier(than the stock 245's) but the same height (32") as the 285/75 and the 235's have the "E" load rating.
