How many miles do you have on your 6.0 liter motor?

Recommended Posts

200000 miles and just now my first problem. low oil pressure at start till warm than good to go. replaced altornator that is it. I have slowed down but trust me there has not been one easy mile on this truck. I still pull 12000 lb gooseneck trailers anytime i need. This is the greatest motor and truck i have ever owned

I have 140k on my 06. It runs great and can't hear any cold knocking. I had to have to front differential replaced at 120k. I tow a 34T SIERRA with a combined weight of 22,000. The trans temp get high if I run above 60 MPH for long periods of time but the banks tuner warns me if the temp get high.

When I don't have load on it the truck averages about 18 MPG. That is using my GPS and actual fuel used. The onboard system for fuel and mpg runs lower than reality and says I am getting 19 to 20mpg.

pushing 196000 miles on original motor. One owner before me and he was an oil deric forman. I'm in construction so I've overpulled and overloaded it every other week with Bobcats and Excavators.

All I've done above normal tuneup is change AC compressor, and the alternator. Water pump bearings are going, and need to put in new Knock Sensors and thats pretty much it.

Mine is an 02. I bought it new and it has knocked from day 1. I've used Mobile 1 and performed regular service on it. It has 142,000+ on it and still runs/pulls great. No major problems. Fuel pump at 110,000 Crank sensor at about 130,000 and 2 knock sensors last week. No major problems. It has been a great truck.

What octane gas are you using? I see some high mileage trucks having knock sensors replaced. I'm wondering if its because they are using lower octane gas, and the knock sensor is getting more use, rather than running higher octane.

OK I had an 01 2500HD till January of this year . It had 76K when I traded it and had never been to the shop. Kept the oil changed at 3K or 3 months miles no matter what the oil change light said. As far as knock goes It would spark knock (premature detonation) if I ran anything under mid grade fuel. I'm talking as soon as I left the station in some cases. It would cold knock from the lifters till it got warm. I read this was a symptom from the Vortec engines and just kept an eye on it. It was a good truck all I had to do in 8 1/2 years was tires, shocks, and a battery. Every other part besides those was the same from the factory.

I bought my 2003 Sierra SLT2500 HD 4x4 CCSB about 3 months ago. The week after I bought it I had to replace the knock sensors and last week I replaced the starter but she has 149,000 miles on her and she does have a little cold spark knock but uses no oil and runs like a champ!! I love this truck!!!

11896 miles. 2009 bought in November. Happy with the power (I wish Torque Management would let me use it!), as expected gas mileage. I do have a ticking noise after warmed up that baffles the dealership. Sounds like a single cylinder valve train or exhaust leak. Given up on finding it and have 88K more miles to find it so I just turn the stereo up.
