How many miles do you have on your 6.0 liter motor?

The old 05 1500HD is at 150000 miles. The engine runs okay short of needing knock sensors now finally. I have done more things than I care to remember to the truck but it's the way they are. It's why I finally stopped buying gmt800's as people never fix anything and just try and sell junk that needs a bunch of work lol.

My 04 2500 light duty only has about 78000 miles on it and doesn't go anywhere.... hasn't been driven in over a year now. I don't care if I never drive it again.

03 2500HD 6.0 Motor has been wonderful, never had cold knock. 164000 miles and still going. Faithful oil changes every 5k miles, I ignore the oil life monitor, and use standard 10/30w oil, not synthetic. Trans replaced with a factory " casket " tranny at @ 110,000 then new tranny died 3 years and 4 months at 45000 miles later. Warranty on " casket " tranny is 3 years or 100000 miles. I churped at the service manager after faithfully having trans serviced at the same dealer. G,M. and Dealer went over the line on the warranty and provided a new transmission with a new 3 year/ 100,000 mile warranty. I paid Labor of @ $700.00. I felt that was fair. Engine on 3rd set of plugs and wires, runs perfect. Recent radiator, not bad for 12 years old. Original brake pads lasted 150,000 miles on front and 125,000 on rear, not bad when I've towed a 5,000 lbs empty hydraulic dump trailer about 25% of the time. Trailer loaded has had up to 5 tons in it and had plenty of power to move it and stop it, haul mode is great. Might keep truck forever, not worth much as a trade for as hard as it still works. I completed about 6 million worth of construction projects using that beast !

Just now looking hard at the new 2015 2500HD, but waiting on the new 8 spd tranny to become available with the 6.0 motor, My Gm buddy says by Jan 2015, it should happen.

Mines's a 2006 2500HD with 6.0 -105k+

WOW, I cannot believe what I have read here, and am very pleased. Recently I was skeptical of selling before I got to 100k (105,000 now). But like all you have said here, its a Strong truck/engine. I only had this truck since 47k but have used it to its full extent. I tow a trailer full of tools on a regular basis, and plow a few months a year. Starts up every day...Only made few mods like replacing the mech fan with dual electric fan (best mod), dual exhaust and air intake, suspension upgrades and air lift assist. Always full synthetic oils throughout and just switched to Amsoil.

I have never owned a new truck, always used, but this GMC is by far my favorite.

310xxx all original drivetrain. Mobil 1 syn its whole life. First 290k were all highway miles. Other than basic maintence truck has been solid. Still drive it like a pissed off teenager and runs like new still. Truck is a freak of nature. Drivers seat barely worn out, rest of truck looks like it had half the mileage. Love my 6.0 truck!

Well that didn't happen like your buddy thought. I bought my 2015 2500HD 6.0L for expressed reason that I didn't want to play guinea pig if GM decided to slap the 6.2 or the 8 speed in it for 2016. Might prove to be ok, but the 6.0L and the 6L90 is a very strong combination with a impeccable track record and I wanted proven durability and reliability. I'll let other folks risk their money on what may come out in the future.

Bought a 2004 GMC Sierra 3500 Extended Cab C&C about six months ago.

185k km on it.

previous guys replaced water pump [botched the job, didn't snap the hoses into their holders, and fan promptly rubs a hole one of them...fortunately it was -25 celcius that day, so motor didn't overheat too badly]

I replaced:

-spark plugs [originals actually looked new]

-exhaust manifold gaskets/bolts [also some clamps for the broken off bolts...if this happens to you, I cannot recommend doing this highly enough, as it really helped my motor run better]

-upstream O2 sensors

-knock sensors

-intake manifold gasket

-fuel injectors

-both fuel pumps [it comes with an aux fuel tank, primary pump failed, aux pump still worked, but was held together by mud/dirt]

-MAP sensor

-upper ball joint on drivers side

-trans fluid and rear axle fluid

Now the 6.0 runs well, doesn't use any oil, has decent power [it's a heavy truck]. Not everything needed to be done [probably didn't need fuel injectors/knock sensors/spark plugs, maybe the O2 sensors], but it wasn't that expensive doing it myself and shopping around [bought a new Spectra aux fuel pump for $20+shipping from Amazon vs over $500 from local auto-parts stores, I think Amazon just had it in stock for a year and didn't want it anymore].

Hope to have it for at least another 5 years/100k.
