Manik Nerfs Installed ... thoughts?

Recommended Posts

In my endless search to try and find a set of nerf bars that sit tight to the cab I thought the Manik's would based on the install diagrams and oblong mounting holes in the brackets.  They arrived today and I got them installed ... but now realize they don't fit like I expected them too.  Perhaps I'm too darn picky ... just have never liked the large gap between the nerf bars and cab I've seen in several picts.  I mounted them as close as I could ... I could drill new holes in the brackets and set them in about 1-2 inches close but thinking that would have a negative impact on usability ... as a front of a person's foot would touch the door sill when stepping up on them.  Curious to know what others think ... should I leave them on, modify them so they sit closer or take them off and go with running boards?  I need something to step on ...

Here's some picts "before" (no nerfs)

I think they look OK.  :)   They blend in with the frame so they are hard to make out on a full side view.

I can't tell you what to do because it's your truck.  If you're not happy, then I'd send them back.

Do you want access to your bed?  If you decide to go with boards, I think they will stick out just as much, and you may have a harder time finding a one-piece wheel well to wheel well design.  I like the Westin boards, but I opted not to get them because in the snow belt they are just a place for slush and dirt to pile-up in the winter.

I like the way they sit under the truck, but I'm not sure if I like how far away from the rockerpanel they are.  Those are the first pics I've seen that show how they fit horizontally to the cab.  I think I am having second thoughts on ordering now.  Could you get a couple pictures from shooting straight-on ,front to rear and rear to front, to show how far they stick out?  Thanks.

Thanks.  They didn't have the stainless, but I did get a Performance Products mag in the mail today.  Check them out and they want $443 for them!  Ouch.

BTW, if you don't get the Performance Prod. mag, you should see the featured truck....nice.  black (like mine) 2500HD CC with a 6" RCD lift, BFG's, and the works.  hmmm $1600 for the lift, rims, tires........
