Looks good!

Im really curious to see how your gearing and tire combo work. With almost 33 inch tire and 3:23 gearing along with a 4.8L how does it do will moving the truck along?

I ask because I want to put this same tire combo on my z71 with 3.42 and the 5.3L HO, and I am worried about how much it would effect my truck.

:D

I have noticed no decrease in responsiveness with the larger tires. The ride quality is pretty much the same as before.

A couple of things I still need to do is get an alignment and have the speedo and PCM reset at the next oil change.

I anticipate more HP and MPG once the flowmaster and cold air intake is installed.

Same set up that was done to my '01 ECSB 2WD with a 4.8 only I went up just one size in tire (265) and again no noticable difference. :D

Thanks! I was on the fence about going from my current 265's to 285's or just stick with 265's on my next tire swap. Looks like I will be ok with 285's. Its about an inch difference in tire diameter.

Thanks for the comments.

No problems using stock wheels with the 285's on the new spindles.

Ride quality is not effected at all. No road noise with the tires either.

A little smoother over all.

I live in eastern NC (Jacksonville area) and had it ordered and installed by a local shop (Truckers Toy Store) off Hwy 17.

My first truck I owned had the same set up put on by 4WheenParst Wholesalers. Closet one of those is in Charlotte, NC.

Thanks to all the available info on this site, the right decisions were able to made.

Pics of other folks trucks really helped. I just kept looking until I saw something I liked and had it priced out. :P

Buckjim,

Speaking from a novice at modifying trucks and with the help of a lot of other smart people on this site I have read and will tell you that a 2WD can only accomodate 285's with some sort of lift. 4WD usually no problem.

Your rub comes from the front more than the rear I think.

Even with 3" spindles on the front I still get minor rubbing on the plastic wheel well trim (like turning into a driveway) and had to shave about a quarter inch off the lower valance corner.

If you put 265's on without a lift, it may work...maybe.

I just gotta know, 3:23's and a 33" tire. You have to be doing around 1500 rpm at 65-70. And you even have the 4.8L. It just seems like it would be a total dog. Fill us in on this.
