Need some advice on pricing on a 2500HD

Hi all

 

I getting ready to pick up a Silverado 2500HD 4x4 extended Cab this weekend.  I just want to know what are the discounts that some of you guys has been getting.  I'm looking at one that has a MSRP of $33,700, some dealers here in California are only willing to give around $2000 off MSRP while they are giving $6000-$7000 off on Silverado 1500's.

 

Just want to get some input from you guys.  Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the impending purchase.

 

I picked up my truck at invoice.  http://www.kbb.com is a good place to research and see what the dealer invoice is compared to sticker price.

 

The first dealer I went to was kinda snotty about paying invoice, but the 2nd dealer said, pick any truck in the lot and it's yours for dealer invoice, which is roughly 10% off the sticker I believe.  Just remember to shop around, some dealers are better than others.

Gobie, welcome to the forum.

 

If you are looking at a truck in your price range, dealer invoice should be between $30-31K.  It is fair to assume that the dealer should sell you a truck at $500-$750 over invoice.  Then you should be able to deduct what I think is a $1500 rebate from that price.  Therefore your price should be around $28.5-30k.

 

You can build the truck at KBB.com and find the exact invoice.  Add the $500 (dealer mark-up) and then subtract the rebate.  That should be a fair price to pay plus all taxes and registration.  

 

Remember that if you are trading a vehicle and you are working off of dealer invoice, that the dealer will only give you "actual cash value" for your trade, which will be ridiculasly low.

Dang shaners I got a really good deal on my truck then.  I got dealer's invoice, -1500 dollar rebate, -trade in which the truck was worth about 6 or 7k and I got 6k for the trade in.

 

Dealer's invoice doesn't mean anything, it's just a number really.  Dealer's will sell at or below invoice and still make a profit.  Hopefully DigUout will get back soon and explain some dealer things to us.

 

 

BTW, Gobie, you may want to send Jason @ ross downing chevy an email to see what kind of deal he can give you on a truck, he says he'll drop ship to any state I believe.

Note in NY...They deduct trade in from

best price, charge sales tax on difference,

Then deduct rebates etc....And of course then

add doc fee, nys inspection, plates and dmv

fees...weird huh........geo

 Locate the truck of your dreams and call the internet person in charge , then offer them $100.00 dollars over invoice.

I had a few Dealer ships agree to my offer . The dealership who had my dream truck was located in San Jose California (ANSERSON Chevrolet) Gave them a ring , offered $100.00 over invoice , they agreed , I flew to San Jose where they picked me up at the airport and brought me to the dealership where I purchased my dream truck at $100.00 over invoice . I live in Soutern California so i got to spend five hours of quility time with my baby all the way home . Ask for Jerry when calling them . Jerry's a female by the way.

When I went to look at the 2500HD's it was near closing time for the dealership. After I returned from a lengthy test drive, the salesman quoted me "fleet" price on the truck, then took off the $2k rebate. Seemed like a deal to me. I took it. Funny thing, it had a duraliner in it and pinstriping that he didn't know about. Retail value of that was about $350. That became part of the deal too.
