Sterring Shaft Rattle

Recommended Posts

I'm sure there is another thread about this, but I did not want to search. Anyway, when my truck was in the shop for the other things, they did the "lube job" TSB for the intermediate steering shaft rattle. As I guessed it did not fix the rattle, however, it did improve it. My service manager said it is a temporary fix. Apparently GM is working on another shaft/upper bearing for this. A bad bearing further up is making the noise. The new TSB specifically says not to install a new shaft. It is the old TSB updated (ends in A), list four shaft part numbers not to replace.

Good Luck,

Kyle

I was just about to start a topic on this.  I wanted to know if the "lube" worked....they replaced the intermediate steering shaft on my 99 and it worked, must have been too expensive replacing all of them.  i would have hoped that they would have figured out a solution from 99 to 02.

They better get it figured out soon, It is very annoying to have it loose like this!!

Thanks for answering my question on the "lube"..you must have been reading my mind!!
