Help me identify this old GMC dump truck

Hello again!

 

This old dump truck has been sitting at the family farm for years. What year model is it? Does anyone know anything interesting about these? I decided to take some pics of it for kicks.

Man, thats neat. Althought I have no clue what year/model it is, still nice to look at. Frame looks like its in decent shape. Project time!!

That is neat..... so when does the restoration start? If nothing else, I would have to snatch the GMC emblems and have them re-chromed to hang on the wall or something (I've got plenty of vacant wall space in teh shop if you want to send one my way ).

 

What's really cool to me is that there are actually engine parts (such as the valve cover) that are marked GMC. Bet you don't find that today from the factory (since so many parts are used for both Chevrolet and GMC).

Thanks for the links, very cool stuff....I liked the pics of the blue 58. The 60-66 GMC site was especially interesting.

 

I'll dig a bit more based on what people posted, but this looks to be a 1959 based on a quick glance through that GMC site.

The front part reminds me of the Truck "Timmy's" dad had on the Original Lassie show.

i agree.

i know for sure for cars and light duty trucks 58 was the first year for double headlights.. but not 100% positive about trucks like these.
