285/75/16 on 16 x 10

Recommended Posts

I am getting ready to lift my truck (3inch body) and wanted a bit wider stance, so I figured a 16 x 10 wheel would be a little better than the 16 x 8, but will 285's fit on the 10 inch rim? The tires are Mud kings ( nothing too special) and the manufacturer says they don't reccomend putting the tire on more than a 9.5 inch wide rim. But whats another 1/2 inch going to do? Everyone I talk to around my town says they'll fit fine, but nobody has done it, so I was wondering if anyone here has a setup like this and would like to help me out? :D

You are talking about putting a 285 which is about an 11 inch tire on a 10 inch wheel. Yeah, you can do it. But it will be dangerous and it will look stupid as he11.

My father has an 11.5 inch tire on a 10 inch wheel on his Jeep, and to me it's borderline gay. It looks OK...but another half inch and it would be past the point of being OK and would be getting into dangerous and gay territory. Personally I would stick with a 8 inch wheel for 285s.

As you can read in my sig, I have 285s on 16X8s and I think they look great. Of course I lifted the front with Ford T-bar keys and I didn't want to go with anything bigger than 8" rims until I lifted my truck 6" and put on 35s. I say go with the 16X8 on your tires. I think it will look great AND not attract any unwanted "GAY" attention.

Just my $.02 :)
