Hi im new to the chevy world just bought my 1st chevy ( 2001 chevy 1500 4x4)

what i am looking to do is put a 3" body lift on it and also would like to lift a little more have heard about ppl putting add- a- leafs in the rear and crank the torsion bars and install the ford keys will this combination work? also what add- a-leafs would i need and will my ride get affected or the reliability of the truck when i crank the torsion bars? any help would be appreciated

I got my torsion bars cranked up, and the shop got it to go up 1 1/2". They had to remove the knockouts i believe. but ive never heard anything about ford keys.

It made a big difference!

I think I will just put blocks on the rear. The ride is stiff enough as it is.

i don't know about a ford key, but i put in a torsion key..possibly the same thing into my truck and gave it about 2 inches of lift and then jacked my torsion bars up a little...giving about 3 inches of lift in the front...but don't go too high or you start messing and damaging tie-rods and bushings and have to replace those soon after you jack your torsion bars up all the way...and the ride is not the same.
