1999 GMC 3500 CC dually GCWR

Need information. I cannot find the info in manual. I own a 1999 GMC Sierra SLE, 3500 Crew Cab, dually, 7.4L (454 cu in) auto tranny, 4.10 rear end truck. I am looking at buying a 36 ft fifth wheel that has a GVWR of 13,888. I know others pull larger and heavier but many are overloaded and that is something I do not want to do. If you ask the RV dealers they just say sure you can pull it. I want to know if I can also stop and control it too.

If anyone has experience with this tow combination and can help please respond. The 5er I am looking at is a repo and has a very pretty (good) price tag, that is if it is not a load problem.

Any help or assistance you can provide is greatly appreciated.

welcome to the forum Denny,

I don't have the info you need but I do have the info from the 2001 3500 crewcab 8.1L.  It is rated to tow a fifth wheel trailer weighing a maximum of 15200 lbs.  If this trailer has a GCWR of 13888 lbs  then empty it is probably around 11000-11500 lbs.

My 32' travel trailer with 14' slide weighs a little over 7000 lbs. with all options installed and weighed at the end of the assembly line.  This weight is no where near the GVWR of the unit which is around 9000 lbs.
