HD2500

Recommended Posts

I posted earlier about ordering a GMC HD 2500 8.1/6speed.  The order went in January 8, 2002 and got a call from the dealer today and said he received the TPW and will be built the week of Feb. 4th and should receive it by the middle of February.  I think that is pretty good to get it that quick got my fingers crossed that nothing goes wrong and it is built that week.  Anyway I just wanted to keep you guys informed like I said I would.

Sounds pretty good to some of us who are still waiting too!  I orderred 1/3/02.  Order was accepted by GM on 1/4/02.  I know that because I called GMC Customer Care on 1/8/02  and on 1/15/02 to see if a TPW had been assigned.  Both times I was told that it had been accepted on 1/4, but has not yet been scheduled for production.  They also told me each time that I should call back after at least three weeks.  I don't mean to be annoying, so I don't call every day, but I will be calling once a week until the truck has been built.  After all, those TPW's can be slippery.

colorado kid maybe some hope

When i ordered my truck last march it was accepted on march 14th.  I was given a TPW of april 10th.  So the week prior i called (april 3rd).  Gm customer service stated there was no TPW given to my truck.  I was furious and called my dealer.  They stated on their computer it still showed april 10th.  So i call april 10th to see about the tpw.  Guy checked (if they dont put you on hold for 5-10 min then they really arent checking on your tpw) came back after about 7 or 8 min and stated my truck was built.  I asked him where it was and he couldnt tell me he didnt know.  It was finished april 6th.  To make a long story short truck was delivered that same day (the 10th).  I found out after i got home from school.  Everyone but me knew.  Then i had to wait 2 wks to go pick it up (it was 3 hrs away and i had to get off work  ) I think it was a total of 27 or 28 days from when the order was accepted to delivery date

So there is hope stay positive

I think the only hope Colorado Kid has of getting his truck lies in the first post on this thread.  To the best of my knowledge, GM only builds trucks with the ZF transmission for about one week at a time.  And when they do build trucks with the ZF, it only happens about once every two months.  So if they are building trucks with manual transmissions the week of Feb 4th, you just might get lucky and they will slip your truck in there as well.  Atleast he can hope so anyways!

btw, did anybody ever wonder why trucks with the Duramax/ZF are so rare?  Thats because only 20 engines that Dmax LTD produces every day are allocated to be placed in front of a manual transmission.  (they produce about 500 engines per day)

Well, I'm still hoping, and When I called today the guy did put me on hold for 3-4 minutes.  WHen he came back he told me a long story about how it was really close to being sheduled, but no TPW yet.  Unlike the other two times I called this guy really did seem to know what he was talking about.  The other two times I felt like I was leading a trainee through the process.  I figure if I don't have a TPW next week it's time to start hoping for an extension of the $2002 deal, cause the likelyhood of a February delivery is decreasing.
