transend for allison tranies?

Recommended Posts

Yep, that stuff is very good.  It is also the automatic transmission fluid that is designed for use in Allison automatic transmissions.  It was designed by Castrol and Allison and supposedly allows you to extend your fluid drain intervals.  (25000-50000 miles depending on driving conditions)

But, I've heard it costs any where from $26-30 per gallon, and you will need 7.4 qts of fluid to refill.  So if you change the transfer case fluid (2.5 qts) at the same time, you will need 3 gallons.  It is also recommended that you change the spin on filter, but there is no need to change the in pan filter.  Make sure you take the magnet of the top of your old spin on filter and transfer it to the new one!

And on the same note, if you feel like increasing your fluid capacity for extra protection, I can get you the part numbers for the deep transmission pan.  It is availiable from Allison, and is easily swapped in place of the shallow pan on there now.

any idea on where to buy it?

mine is a 2 wheel so 2 gallons should do unless I get the diffrent pan

yes send the part # dose it come with a deeper draw tube?

iether way it wll get those nasty wear particles further away from the valve body, only prob i see is higher chance of catching on ground obstructions eaven thow it is 2 wheel it may go thrugh an ocational field

any more info an this pan or links ect added capicity height change etc.

The best and cheapest place to buy will be from your closest Allison distributor.  Go here to find the closest to your area.

Deep Pan ...... 29536522 List $48.87

Screen/Tube.... 29536891 List $19.10

External Filter 29537268 List $7.98

The deep pan will hold an additional 3.2 qts of fluid and is approximately 2" lower then the shallow pan on your truck.  You can reuse the pan gasket.

There is some good info on this thread and some good pictures of the deep pan on this thread

thanks for the links and info  :sigh:

going to do both transend and the deep pan

No problem at all man.  Thats what these places are for.  I do think you are making a good decision going with the larger pan, even if it hangs 2" lower.  You surely can't beat having the extra fluid there if you get into a tough towing situation.

did the swap today, if u do this! do your self a favor and remove the heat shield on the passengers side the pan got cought on it and made a mess everywhere (yes there is a quart or more in the pan after u drain by the plug) pulled the spin on no problem, so I pushed the truck back to get out of the puddle of tranny fluid, and then pulled the in pan filter out and there was at least another quart there (I wore more than half of it) juess there is a check valve in the filter as i figuered there would not be anything there, big warm wet suprize!!!

it would up taking 3 and some out of the fourth gallon ~13 quarts I was only expecting 10.6 juess that figure is based  on drain Leaves the quart in the pan + who knows how much behind the in pan filter+ spin on

it shifts softer now, the shifts were sharp before especialy at low power thay are now much softer not shure i like it better before it felt like it had a shift kit  :sigh:, it seams to run cooler, I drove it for 50 miles at night and it toped out at 170 on the gauge, it used to run at 180-200 in trafic in the daytime this ws at night and no traffic so we will have to see how it is after a few days

I know most of u report lower temps on your tranies but this is the south and my gauge may be a little off
