Dash Rattle

My truck has a rattle in the dash while accelerating at 3000+ RPMs, it sounds like a loose screw inside the dash, It especialy gets loud if you are required to feed more gas to maintain speeds of 70-80mph. I was wondering if anybody here has had a similar problem.  It sounds like it is comming from near the center of the dash.  I would like to fix it myself if possible, I hate the idea of the dealer tearing apart my dash.

Thanks in Advance

I had what I thought to be a rattle in the center of my dash.  Got instructions on how to tear down the entire assembly and could not find a thing..till I checked the mounting bracket for the OH $hit handle.  Try this before going as far as I did.  Pop out the vents on either side of the grab handle.  A plastic knife or small screwdriver will work best to pop them out.  You will then be able to see the rod for the side of the grab handle through each vent hole.  There is a white clip that you need to squeze to release the rod.  Squeze the white tab and pull out the grab handle.  You will obviously have to do one at a time to release it, then it comes out.  Look back through the vent hole and you will see the mounting spots or whatever its called of where the rods lock in.  See if that is loose.  Mine was you could easily rattle it around as it was metal on metal.  I put some silicon around the area to provide an insolator so it wasn't metal to metal.  This part will make more sence once you see it.  It only takes about a minute to pop the vent covers and pull the grab bar out and check this.  It certainly couldn't hurt....

Anyway this took care of my rattle and I haven't heard it since.  Now if I can only get rid of this annoying door sqeek when it is closed going down the road I will be all set.  I figure the weatherstripping needs a bit of attention.

Anyway, hope this helps!
