Plowing snow with a HD

Recommended Posts

I was just wondering if anyone has plowed snow with one of the new 2500HD's? Has it worked out well? what kind of plow are you using etc.? My truck will have a Fisher V-plow if it ever gets here...

I think the V-plow will work out well. I have had trouble in deep snow before with the plow angled one way. It pushes you off the driveway sometimes... in fact last winter I ended up off the side of a driveway in a swamp... had to get towed out. I have only had to get towed one other time in all the years I've been plowing. I think the V-plow should at least keep me centered in the driveway.

hello,

I have a 2001HD and am thinking of going the same route of a fisher v.  My only concern, as with chevy's of the past, is front end sag with the weight of the plow.  It has a few extra pounds on it over the straight 8, and I know how our older 2500 sags with that.

I will probably go with the v no matter what, and will go ahead and have the timbren boosters installed with the plow.

And by the way, from what I have heard, everyone who owns a fisher V says you will never buy a straight plow again when you discover how much more effeciant the plow is, especially in the v-scoop mode.

I never really noticed a lot of ag on my 89 2500 but the V-plow does weigh a little more. I don't think that i wil regret getting the V-plow though... I'll make sure i take it off when I'm not using it.
