Springs or air bags?

Recommended Posts

I'm looking into a slide in camper for my '98 4x4 Silverado. I want to get a little help for the added weight when hauling it. So, for the same price of approx. $250, would you use the add-on helper spring kit http://www.mrtruck.net/springs.htm or an air bag system http://www.truckspring.com/air-spring-kits_256.html . What are the thoughts/experiences about each?

Go with the AIR SPRINGS (bags) if you like the ride your truck has without the camper. Also with the Air system you can adjust to different load conditions. Springs have a pretty much fixed load rating.

Just my $.02

I have the McGaughy's rear air bag assist kit in my '04 SS and haven't had any issues with it. I installed it just in case I had some heavy stuff in the bed and also if I ever decided to tow with it. I ended up taking the hitch off for a rollpan. I just bought an '06 Yukon XL and will tow with that if I ever have the need.
