tire pressure

Recommended Posts

I have the standard E rated tires. What should the air pressure be cold. I read 80 lbs on the side of the tire. I checked the tires hot and they were at abut 55 lbs. Is 80 pounds right? I checked the front they have about 55 pounds of pressure. I checked the back, they both have 80 pounds..........should the fronts be the same as the back or leave em at 55...?

That is max tire pressure. If you run unloaded with 80psi, it will feel like you're driving a skateboard.

I run my tires at 50 psi back, 55 front. This seems to be a good pressure to keep sidewall flex down, but I can still put a small load in without airing up. If I run loaded, I air up to around 70-75 psi front and back.

I run 55PSi all around on mine for regular driving even though they are rated at 80PSI.  Check your door decal for suggested tire pressure. Mine says 55 in front 80 in the rear.  But when I ran them at 75 PSI, I felt like I was bouncing all over the road.  Like Friz said, air them up with a load, lower it for offroad.

Hello,

I run at 75 in all 4 all the time, but thats because its always hauling something or towing a trailer.

I will say, that its a much nicer ride at 55!

One thing I noticed, and I heard a few guys mention.  When you get your new truck, check the tire pressure.  I didn't at first and when I did finally.......wow.  Only 25psi at every tire.  Great dealer prep.

I will say that it sure rode smooth though!
