NeXuS1
sometime in the future, i'm going to need new tires for my 2500, so i was wondering if there are any out there that'll offer me a nice tread pattern for off-road, but wont lower my load capability, i really loved my BFG all terrans on my 89, but i dont know if they are ment to handle this load range. right now i have some cheap road tires, and they caused me a weekend of headache last time out at sand mountain. where my 89 has never had problems. even when i was messing around on the dunes. different trucks and all, but oh well. Kansas Kid
I know that Cooper, Michelen, Bridgestone, and BFG make off-road tires that will handle the weight you are talking about. Just whatever you do make sure you get atleast a load range D tire, but preferably a load range E. The main think to check is that the tire is rated for a max load of atleast 3000lbs. That will be enough to keep everything safe.
DigUout
If you need to stay with an E load, there are plenty of options for manufacturers but only in 2 sizes. Stock 245/75/16 or 255/85/16. If you drop down to D load, there are plenty of manufacturers and sizes for a 16 inch tire, up to a 295/75/16. I went from an E load rated tire to a D, after checking around and finding that in some cases, certain D's have the same or greater rating than the 245 E load tire. It's a little early in the AM for me to recall all the ratings numbers but I'll include a couple of links - www.tirerack.com www.discounttire.com www.ntwonline.com www.4lo.com (great site for tire and gear calculators)
Jpshostr
Lately we've been going with Goodyear Workhorse Extra Grips. Really help out in the mud compared to the stock tires, yet they have good on road manners. Haven't had any load trouble with them at all.
8100HD
I am running BFG A/T's on my 2500HD, 285's in the summer and 265's in the winter. I have had no problems whatsoever with the capabilities of these tires, and they are rated to carry more lbs than my stock 245's(that were on my ride for about 30 minutes). Polaris Man
I just put 33/12.50/16.5 BF Goorich Mud Kings. They are D rated 8 ply tires and they are rated over 3000ibs. My old 265/75 R16s were only C rated 6 plys. Also got new American Racing Baja Rims. Looks awesome.
