Body Lift Kit for 2500HD Duramax

Recommended Posts

Received the following:

Hey little_wiley! Any luck finding the 3 lift you were looking for? I just got an e mail from Rancho, they just released a new lift kit (too new I guess, its not even in their web site yet!) for our trucks ( Ive got a HD2500 Duramax crew cab 4x4 also!) The kit is a 4 lift, however. The part # they gave me is RS6548. They said this part will be on back order for a while due to the demand.

Did you have any clearance problems with your 285s?

How did your new taller tires affect your off-the-line performance?

Are you planning to change the rear drive ratio?

Seems that no one currently has a body lift for these HD's and only three companies have Suspension Lifts.

  • RCD
  • Superlift
  • Rancho.

Both RCD and Superlift are 6" kits.  Rancho's, I'm told, is 4".

The BFG 285/75R16's that i have are on Weld 16x8's.  They were rubbing horribly on both front driver and passenger side.  I have raised the torsion bar as a short term fix.  Of course I can feel every ripple in the road now  :0  As far as off the line performance, until you can reprogram the transmission for the 285's, you will lose some performance.  GM will not reprogram for anything other than what they think is appropriate and 285's are not on the list.  You must have a reprogramer like the "Hypertech" product except that they do not have one for the diesel HD's yet just gas.  Their diesel version should be out by the end of the year.

We have a "4 Wheel Parts" retail store here in Jacksonville.  They carry and install both Superlift and Rancho.   Installion is free right now for the superlift kits.  So I suspect that I will go with the superlift kit.

What expierience has anyone had with the superlift products ???

As far and chaning my gearing, I will not be going larger than 285 or 305's and should not have a problem with the 3.73 gearing.  Just don't know at this time.  Have already put way to much money in the this truck. :D

If you're not going any larger than a 305 or 285 it might be time to rethink which lift to go with.  A 6" lift with 33's on a HD is going to look like you put your factory 245's back on.  I myself am waiting for Rancho's 4" kit and will probably run 295's in the summer and 285's in the winter.  Just my opinion, but for a 6" kit go with 315's.

There is a body lift made for your truck but I would strongly advise not to put a body life on your truck.  Why put your truck body on stilts and put more stress on joints not designed to take this extra harmonic forces.  But that's just my opinion on the matter.

I've checked every where on Duramaxes there aren't any body lifts available on it or the 8.0. I guess the engines weigh too much. The one i'm saving for is the Rancho 6 inches is just too tall for my liking. I think w/ alittle trimming you may be able to get 315s under a 4 inch lift.

Pics in sig.  2001 2500HD CC 8.1/alli with 3" b/l and 295's.

Performance Accessories states:

The reason that no lift is available for the Dmax is the possibility of having to re-plumb the intercooler which would void the warrantee.

They are by no means saying that their current kit won't work, its just that they have not gotten their hands on a Dmax to make for certain that it will work.

8100HD whart brand body lift do you have? I apprecaiate the info. I have a friend that is buying a sub and was told there are no body lifts available for the 8.1 engines in pickups or suburbans by 4 wheel parts. Thanks again

TXDMAX, I have a Performance Accessories body lift the kit number for the crew cab HD's is 183.  I also installed the gap guards which I highly recommend, since they actually keep alot of dirt out of the engine compartment.  I've been running the b/l since October with no problems.
