Electric Locks

Check the wiring harnesses that pass thru the door jambs into the doors. My dad had a Chevy Van that the wires broke right in the rubber accordian. The power windows were intermittant. The insulation was so brittle it cracked and eventually the copper wire broke.

I have a question similar to this -

I own a 1999 (OBS) Yukon and my rear barn doors haven't locked since I bought the truck used 2 years ago. When I lock the doors (either with the remote or the switch on the door) all 4 side doors lock but not the barn doors. I bought my truck used and never got a door key with it, just an ignition key that doesn't fit in the lock cylinders of the doors.

Any idea what the problem might be? Thanks.

I had that problem with my Burb and I ended up taking a pencil eraser to the pins and contacts and then WD-40'd them, push the pins in and out a few times ..... they are the pins and contacts when the barn doors meet at the top to charge the system....try that good luck it worked for me,mine were tarnished alot.

It was real easy! Take door panel off, and drill out the two pop rivits holding the bracket . You will see the rubber groumet holding the lock arm, gently pull it off and slide assembly out of armrest hole. The kit from dealer comes with the new rivits . Reassemble in the reverse order. Looks alot more intimatidating than it is. You donot have to take inner door panel off like advised in other forums. GOOD LUCK!
