random starting failure

Recommended Posts

hi all.

ive tried searching for these and couldnt find it - but i may be searching the wrong phrase, im not sure. anyways lately my truck sometimes just wont start. i turn the key and nothing at all happens except the voltage gauge drops. i wait about 5 minutes try again and it works just fine. its a new battery so im sure that isnt it, especially since it starts after a while. im thinking maybe something is getting too hot then cooling down and letting me start - is that possible? any help would be great or a link to a thread that i couldnt find with search terms please.

Check the positive cables on the battery.  These are 2 piece connections with a third inbetween.  Alot of the time, these connections will get corroded.  This is a $10 fix, I would check it first before doing a starter.

yeah, he could do a voltage drop test, that would show if that is the problem
