Can you add a third row to a Tahoe?

We have a 2003 Tahoe with the Z71 package. We got a great deal on our truck so we bought it. The only problem is it does not have a third row seat. Can you add a third row seat? We do not have the budget to get a whoile new truck with a third row seat. Has anyone added a third row seat? We have the lift up tail gate not the barn doors.

I have a 2001 Yukon without the third row. I was trying to figure out the same thing. Please let me know if you find out and I will do the same.

Even if the attachments were in the floor & the seatbelt anchors were there the cost would be very high. Being they are safety items. Without the correct seats & belts anyone injured in an accident would make you liabel.

Not a good idea.

No you can't. There are no floor pockets for the 3rd seat.

I suppose you could fab it up but at a lot of cost and who knows if the welding would be any good in a crash.

Just curious....was not having a 3rd an option for the Tahoe/Yukon ?

I ask cuz everyone I've seen (since 2001 anyways) have had a 3rd row. (I'm in Ontario).

i saw this site and they do make a third row seat. the forward facing one even looks stock. its $680 for the seat. cheaper than buying a new rig.

All Z71 Tahoes did not come with 3rd row seat at least that was true in 02 and 03.

They didn't in '04 either,My buddy has an '04 Z71 Tahoe with no 3rd row seat.

I know the 3rd row seat was optional in '04 because we had quite a few with the 3rd row seat on stock,That was the problem for him,He didn't want the 3rd row seat so we had to locate him one without it.

We went to our Chevy dealer and asked, and they said that there is some metal plates that are welded under where the third row would go, and they said that they could not do this. Has anyone experienced this?

I know we,along with most other dealers,will not add the 3rd row seat if it was not so equipped because of safety issues.

We will also not add additional seats to a mini-van if it did not have them.

If we add them and something happens they can tell if the vehicle was not so equipped from the factory,If it wasn't I could not even think of the lawsuits that could follow.

Bottom line,Its a safety issue.

Its worth checking under the carpet to see if you have the anchors. I know the anchors in my Yukon XL sit flush and could be easily covered by carpet.
