Specs for testing Spark Plug Wires?

Recommended Posts

Anyone know where I can find the tolerances for testing the resistance (ohms/ft) of a set of OEM spark plug wires?

I have a '95 Sierra C1500, 302ci (vin H) with 77k. Original set is showing about 6k - 10k ohms/ft. I'm too cheep to buy a set if I don't have to.

Thanks!

Hmm, I forget myself. I think in general for a truck being that old I would

recommend a new set anyways.

I would like to know the answer to this anyways myself.

6 to 10K is not bad but you would not want any more and it will only get worse with age plus the insulation starts to break down and leak current too which your ohm meter check does not show.

Yeah, I guess it's time for a new set anyway. Looking under the hood.., a new cap & rotor wouldn't hurt either (a lot of carbon buildup - and some pitting). Off to the parts store... :driving:

Thank you both for responding...
