Swapping 6.0 in place of 4.8

Hi guys, I was wondering first of all what all would need to be changed to install a 6.0 in place of a 4.8. I know the computer would need to be reprogrammed, but as far as everything else goes is it just a drop in thing? Also do you guys think that in a 4600lb truck, there is a chance that the 6.0 might actually get mileage near what i'm getting now (about 20 highway, 16 city)? And finally, has anyone built up the 4.8? I was wondering if it was worth it with the small displacement, but I do like the way it revs.

Look forward to tranny problems if you get a good tune. 4L60 wont hold to even a stock 6.0. Other than that all you would need is your flexplate from the 4.8. Dont bother playing with the 4.8, get a low mile 6.0 runner and throw it in. I like throwing the truck sideways at a stoplight with ease or on command.

A 4L60 can handle it fine if you do a few thing to it, one is a aux tranny cooler and the other is DO NOT USE A SHIFT KIT!! 4L60's prior to 05 had sprags that were not that strong and when you put a hard banging shift kit in them you can tear out sprags with time and it has given 4L60 a bad name when it is the fault of the mod not tranny. Also most rannies in 4x4 that fail, fail from heat from being run against big tires and tall gears which prolongs stall and heat it makes and if you are looking to add a 6.0 to make up for too tall of gearing you are headed for possible tranny trouble.
