Wow what a hassel, but a bunch of questions

Recommended Posts

Ok I am restoring an 84 sierra. I picked up an 87 silverado for 800 bucks and dealt with titling issues and needed a lawyer but still made out and got title. I pulled the doors, bumpers and such and NOW am pulling the a/c since mine does not have it. I guess next is cutting my firewall and adapting it to the ac from the other truck.

Ok, heres my question, I am throwing in a 400+hp motor with 3500 cams and a 350 stall conveeter. I have the turbo 400 trans in it now, stock. Should I keep the turbo 400 and throw the stall converter on it and a shiftkit? I hate the trans as it is it does not shift nicely or accellerate that well or downshift. Or do I........

Someone gave me a 200r4 trans with a shiftkit and the works for free. Which one is going to be better for performance with the hp and the stall converter? And, will the 2004r even fit? The tricked out 2004r or me tricking out my 400 turbo?

The 200 is similar to the Turbo 350 and will physically fit with a different drive shaft. Fairly strong tranny, used in Buick Grand Nationals, but not the best choice in a heavy truck with 400+ HP. Use the T400 and add a shift kit and the converter. No electronics to deal with either!
