tire recommendations

Recommended Posts

It's just about time to replace the skins on my 98 Z71. I currently run 265-75-r16. I was thinking of either a body lift or re-indexed torsion bar keys and switching to a 285-75-r16. But with the current price of gas, I am considering sticking wtih the stock size. Just for my own information, what is the largest tire I can clear on my truck as it sits? If I do put a body lift or torsion bar keys in the truck and move to 285's, how much of a drop in mileage can I expect?

The other question that I have is, what type of tires?

I would like something with a more aggressive tread than the firestones that are currently on the truck. I was considering going with Bridgestone Dueler REVO's, BFG MT's, or Goodyear MT's. Any suggestions or comparisons would be apppreciated.

You can run a 285 with no modifications, and you can run a 315 with the Bars cranked and a BL. The Duelers are great, I wish mine would wear out so I could justify buying new tire...since I want some mudders. The MTs will wear out faster than an AT and the Goodyears are terrible on Fullsize trucks.
