17x10 wheels with 35's what lift to use

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know if Procomp makes a 6" lift for a 2005 Yukon XL 2500 with autoride. And will 17x10 wheels with 35x12.5 tires fit with out rubbing or very minor trimming.

Also any expereience with 17x10 wheels with 35x12.5 tires with an RCD lift.

I really want to run 10" wide wheels and the 35's, or will 33's fit and look good.

There is only two companies that make a 6" lift for Chevy/GM 2500 Series SUV's with Autoride (RCD Part#10-41801 and Fabtech Part#K-1017). The only big difference is that Fabtech allows the use of the stock wheels, whereas with RCD you cannot use a 16" wheel with more than 4.5" of BS.(4 5/8" with a 17"). Between the two I would choose the RCD for the simple reason that IMHO it is better engineered. I don't know how concerned you are about your front tracking, but with 17X10 wheels your front wheels are going to stick out quite a bit. I have the RCD kit on my 02 2500 Suburban(With Autoride). I am using 16x8 wheels with 295-75-16 tires(33.2" tall). If you send me your email address I will send you the pics and you can see for yourself what it looks like and I will be happy to answer any questions you may have about both kits as I did a lot of research on both of them before I bought the RCD. :seeya:

I don't mean to discredit Jacqson, but look here: http://www.explorerprocomp.com/products.php?CAT_ID=K5072

it looks like procomp makes a lift for "w/ ride control." Maybe I am wrong but I would think that is the same as "autoride."

I don't have your same rig, but I have a 2500HD that I put a 6" Procomp lift on with 17x10 wheels and 35x12.50 tires. Also, the procomp lift does not space out the front tires like other lifts do (namely Fabtech). Anyway my tires do not rub at all because it is a drop bracket lift and not a spindle lift. The spindle lifts are what limit your backspacing on your wheels.

If you will notice, the Pro Comp kit you listed is made for the 1500 Tahoe/Suburban/Yukon/XL and Swanny2069 has a 2500 which is different. The 1500 ride control has a leveling feature plus Real Time Damping and the ride control on the 2500 is only RTD. As I said, there is only two companies that make a lift kit for the 2500 Series SUV's and that is RCD and Fabtech. Fabtech's kit allows the use of Stock wheels(5"BS) at the expense of increasing your front tracking, however spindle lifts allow you to retain the stock placement of your steering linkage, UCA and not to mention factory alignment specs as well. On a full drop you have to move your steering linkage down and in some cases you have to replace your front driveshaft if you have Autotrac(Which he Does). The RCD kit moves your front tracking out about 1" over stock which is no big deal and why go to a 10" wide rim when an 8" rim will work fine, plus the fact your wheels won't stick out as far in the front so your chances of the tires rubbing at wheel compression is minimized. Even with a 6" full drop and 35's you can still run the risk of rubbing in a turn under front suspension compression. So in answer to Swanny2069's question about whether Pro Comp makes a lift for the 2500 Yukon XL with Autoride the answer is "No".
