Engine/Tranny Horsepower rating

With all the extra horsepower and torque you can add to a vehicle, does anyone know what the 'stock' engine and tranny are rated for? I am looking at the 2004 2500HD 6.0L with the 4L80E -2WD. I'd hate to blow out a block or burn up a transission. Thanks for the help

From what i Understand you can't make enough power to crack a 6.0L block without poking and stroking and then depending on what you take out.

As for the trany, the 4L80E is a robust tranny, but there are companies out there that rebuild clutch packs, etc. and make them handle well over 1000 horses.

Someone correct me if i am talking out my ass please

The 6.0 can take a good amount of punishment. Stock pistons are where the weakness lies. Even still they are pretty strong. 4L80 is strong in stock for yes. But it can be killed. A good built unit can take quite a bit of thrashing. Parish's 10 second Z-71 is proof of that one. Only downside to the 80 is weight and the amount of power it takes to turn it. It also has pretty low first and second gear.
