K&N FIPK / Throttle body spacers

Hey!

I have a 2003 sierra 1500hd and I wanted to boost it up a bit. I have been told that by adding K&N FIPK / Throttle body spacers would help and that it would be cost effective! Would any of you have any suggestions as to what I could do to enhance the performance on this 6. ltrs vortec engine?

Thanks everyone!

Regards

i have a truck like yours same year but a 2500ld and i put the fipk on it, didnt notice anything drastic, sounds cool when you get on it, gas mileage was the same, NOT any better, my advice would be to just get the drop in k&n filter.

i also just ordered a magnaflow muffler and will have it installed by the end of the month, from what i read it will give it a nice sound and bring out the real sound of the 6.0!!!! good luck, Ryan

Thanks everyone for your comments on this. It`s frutrating to try and do anything with this truck without costing me an arm and a leg. it would cost me $560 canadian for both the spacer(airaid) and K&N FIPK. Some people say that`s it`s allot of marketing for no return as you put it.

Anyhow! Thanks again guys for all your help on this issue.

Well the Spacer is absolutely useless, they are designed for TBI or carb's, i saw a great gain on my buddy's 1995 Sierra with the 305 and the space did wonders, but on EFI you won't see bubkas.

The FIPK will make a really neat sound and maybe a 0.5 - 1.5 mpg increase and might give you 5rwhp

I would say a tune would be your best bang for your buck

Instead of getting an intake get a custom tune from wait4me they are 157.50 and they are more worth than a K&N intake they will give you about 10-30rwhp and they are cheap.

Im on another Silverado forum. Couple users have tried to buy from him, so far its been forever. I would have to say no to him.

They have a guy over that does some good tuning. Nelson tuning. He can do a live tune, or send you a pcm tuned for you.

:D

Well I installed the K&N FIPK and as stated from others, it does sound extremely well. As far as the AirRaid throttle body spacer? I had to return that. It would not fit with the FIPK that I wanted to install as the spacers brings out the throttle body an inch closer to the fan, hence removing space for the FIPK. :D

have a 2500hd 6L can tell you from my experience i just add a throttle body spacer 2 weeks ago. have picked up a 1\4 of tank of fuel last week and this week alone normal driving.haven't towed but some twenty foot telephone poles some short distance but did notice some better mid range throttle.from other post most people say they whistle so i ordered the crane adapter cut from front to back. for me the fuel mileage increase was enough to justify cost 103.00 us with shipping.

agreed. the TB spacers are a complete waste. i know some people swear mileage and/or power increases, but they are more imagined than real...

the FIPK is a ripoff. big price tag for only a few hp at best. if you are looking for "the sound", just cut the bottom out of your stock airbox. you`ll get plenty of induction noise from that....

I have a mass-air intake with the K&N filter. Really helped the 5.3 in my YukonXL sound really nice (especially with the Gibson cat-back).

I put in the air-raid spacer as well....can't really say it does anything...except add a quiet whistle-sound. If I had the chance again, I would pass on the spacer.

I had troubles getting a hold of wait4me as well. After a couple of emails and several days delay, Hannah finally responded. Since I'm in Canada, they're not interested in my business. :)
