blown head gaskit, 6.5 help please

Recommended Posts

Hello : I have a question on what may have went wrong, my son has a 1994 chevy 3500 HD dualie,

with the 6.5 turbo diesel. it was spitting water outta the rad. , You could put a pressure gauge on the Rad. an start it up ,an rite away it would build up pressure in the rad.

he pulled the heads, an found the #3 cylinder on the right bank had water in it, He got New Head Castings, an a Gaskit set, Installed both heads an still has the problem with excessive pressure in the Rad

Any Idea what might be the problem ??? , I know he didnt put any sealnt on the head bolts !!!!!, an also he said he used copper coat spray on the block , before installing the gaskits ???

An also another question , on the fuel pump, to advavce the timing , as you stand in front of the engine, which way do you turn the pump for more power to the left or the right,,,,,,, Thanks in advance to any reply's,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,JIM

on your 1st question if it is still doing the same thing then you either have a head that is cracked or it is warped. what you need to do is pull off that head take a flat edge lay it accross the head and use a feeler gauge if warped more than .003 in then there is you problem

the most likely cuase is overheat damage if that is what is found

on your 2nd question to advance the pump i do beleive you have to turn it counter clockwise...the best way to tell is have someone crank the engine look which way the crank shaft pully turns. If it turn clockwise then you have to turn the pump counter clockwise and the oppisite if it turns the other way
