crf250rider
I have an 05 silverado 1500 and I was wondering what people thought of the k&N intake. Does it give you more hp or torque? What about mpg?
trever1t
I run the Volant CAI but i think they're pretty much all the same. I like my filter in an enclosure, and only drawing air from outside the engine compartment. You'll get a few hp but mostly increase the sound of the intake! Crabhart5.3
It's mediocre. The best ones out there it seems are Outlaw, S&B, UPD (NSV), Volant, and Airaid sells their tubes seperately, which is overall the best deal. The stock airbox is very good at what it does, since it is already a CAI. The tube however can be improved. I recommend either buying the Airaid tube, or simply making your own tube. On the filters K&N filters are notorious for their poor filtration and the amount of debris they allow to pass through the MAF, as well as the oil that comes off of it, clogging the MAF. All open element, cone filters will get dirty about twice as fast as boxed filters. The stock paper filter overall is the best filter you can use, regardless of what commercials say. Nothing really wrong with any of the other brands' filters, but suffice to say you don't need them.
yukondave
More hp? Not really. Only if you're in a drag race running at redline and you need an extra 1/10th sec. to win. I went back to stock air setup after wrecking a maf with the oil that came off the filter. Also, my oil got dirtier alot quicker with aftermarket air intake. I'd rather have a longer engine life, cleaner oil, and a functioning maf than 1/10th sec in a quarter.
