3" body lift - fuel filler neck question

Recommended Posts

i recently put a 3" body lift on my 99 z71 sierra. the instruction manual applies to both gmc and chevy but the fuel filler neck extension seems to be different. there is a rubber filler hose surrounded by a protective rubber hose. i had to cut trough both hoses to put on the 3" extension. now when i pump gas after a few seconds it backs up on me and leaks over. obviously one is there to serve as a breather hose and it is no longer working correctly. if anyone has put on a body lift before and has any suggestions or has encountered the same problem i would greatly appreciate feedback and/or any ideas.

I didn't have to put an extention on my '99 Silverado (new body style). The Performance Accessories body lift kit didn't even come with one. I thought only the 2500's had to have the filler neck extention. Maby not.

First, I wold check to make sure you don't have any kinks in either hose.

Then I would check to see if the breather hose is plugged up somehow. If you can get it loose enough to blow into it, you should be able to blow relatively easy into it. If you try and it's hard to blow through, it's plugged up. It might be next to impossible to get enough room to blow into it though. Maybe get a piece of hose and a fitting to mate to the end to make it easier to get to.

No more difficult than any other truck. Took my father and I about 10 hours total, with air tools. I had 33's with 3" BL on 15x10 rims with no rubbing, eventually went up to 35's, had to trim some on the front air dam. As far as tires, there are many offroad MT tires that can be driven on a daily driver. I've had my PC X-terrains for a couple years with 35K miles on them, well over half of the tread still there. My next truck will be getting the Toyo Open Country MT's, Brother-in-law's 99 Silverado has gotten 50K miles on them and they look great still. Chris
