4x4 broke?

1985 burban 2500 4x4 auto. sittin at the intersection last night, frozen rain temps, deep snow so i had it in 4hi. tryin to go at green, the truck wouldn't move...seemed like it was in neutral through all gears except reverse. tried refiring the truck, shiftin in and out of 4hi to 2wd and back, no difference. threw it into 4lo and off i went. 50 feet down the road.. 'BANG' .... lost all 4x4 control.

2wd is fine now, and even when i shift to 4hi, the indicator on the dash shows it's on, but still one tire fire and no help in the snow. all the 2wd gears work as normal.... i'm completely dumbfounded, it's like it never happened just now i own a 2wd lol.

something happen to the transfer case? i just don't know where to start lookin.

any ideas are appreciated

ok...spoke with several tech's...came to the same solution, the drive chain. anyone know where i can get one at a wholesale price, i've been finding em around $130.
