Talked to Brian @ Wester's today and I will be trading in my Hypertech III for a new PCM.

Does anyone else have a 5.3 w/ Wester's, and how is your experience?

HP gains?

Torque ?

Overall sensation?

The literature looks good, but i'd like to hear from some of you and your experiences.

Thanks, Trever.

I've had mine for several months now. Overall, I definitely think its worth it. It is a quicker and more responsive truck. I can definitely feel the hp gains as well as firmer shifting. You probably wont see fuel mileage gains at first, as you're gonna have a little fun with your new toy.

The only problem I've had is my traction control. On the first tune, the light wouldn't go off which also meant my TC was permanently disabled. On the second tune I had them reburn it with some different performance tweaks. Performance was better but the TC was still lit. Just got the third tune yesterday and installed today. Unfortunately once again, same problem. I spoke with Lyndon and told him what was going on. He thinks the recalibration of my tire size might be throwing the computer off . He's gonna reburn with all the performance mods except the tire recalibration. Sooooo, I'm now waiting for the 4th tune and hoping this fixes the problem.

Thanks for the response!

Sounds like they have good customer service, important.

Is it costing you $45 each time?

What kind of tweaks are you doing?

When i called Wester's I spoke to a Brian, who is Lyndon? Should i be talking to him, LOL?

As far a tuning goes, i thought i'd go with "89/91 oct. tuning, medium firmer shift, no change to shift points, increase limiter to 130 mph, remove all engine TM, and light towing/hauling. "

What did you go with?

The customer service has been good. Brian is a rep for Westers. Lyndon is the main man. He's very nice and takes the time to talk to you. Actually, all of them do and that is definitely important. You just have to pay shipping back to them. USPS from me to them is like 23 bucks. From you, it'll be a little more but no big deal. I'm running the same tune as you ordered except he factored in my aftermarket rim/tire size, intake, and exhaust.

I did tell him about my intake (Volant) and exhaust ( Borla) and even the header which go in weds/ thurs. He told me that the tune does not account for that but the MAS will. Does that make sense?

So how much better is it than say Hypertech or another handheld programmer?

( I currently run Hyoertech)

Would you say the boost in performance is worth the $$$ and how about economy, have you noticed any differences?

Sorry to burden you with all these questions, i do appreciate the answers.

He told me that it didn't make much of a difference.........MAF, multiple airflow sensor? I never used another programmer so I can't tell you. Yes, definitely worth it in my book. And yes, I have noticed better fuel economy. Hard to believe with my lead foot. You're not burdening me. That's what we're all here for! Give each other answers.........

I've had a Wester's tune on my 2500 with a 6.0 for about a year. It's the best performance upgrade I've ever done any of my vehicles. I haven't had any problems with my tune at all and I tell ya all it seems to get better and stronger every day.

I didn't feel difference at first, but after a few days when I was getting on the freeway I noticed how my truck just took off like a bat out of hell. It's no Corvette, but at least it'll get out of its own way now.

Lyndon is very customer oriented and listened to all my questions and took time time to answer them all. There are cheaper tunes out there, but those guys don't have Lyndon's experience or his GM connections. Besides who else offers you a lifetime of upgrades?

Do the Wester's thang and you won't be disappointed. :chevy:

There is an order form on their website (Westers Garage) that you have to fill out and fax/email to them. That's all I did. I did however call them and confirm the changes I wanted to make. I actually have a new tune sitting at home, just haven't had time to install it yet, but will when I get home from work. I started with the 89-91 tune, but just got the 91-93 tune, since 93 is available here. I will agree that at first I didn't notice the difference, heck when I first put it in, I had about 1/4 tank of 87 left, and drove to the station to fill up with 91, and the thing knocked like there were ball bearings loose in the cylinders! The biggest difference that I've noticed is if I stand on it, it will wind out the gears, to about 5000 RPM. But, if you are just cruising around, normal driving, you won't see major jumps in performance. Well worth the money in my opinion also, get one ASAFP!
