Torsion Bar Keys?

Recommended Posts

Now by 'Keys' I mean the wierd shaped things on the opposite and of the torsion bar from the control arm. So if I'm already using incorrect terminology please correct me.

Anyway, mine are cranked all the way up, but my 35's have torn up the inner fender wells from turning over bumps and I'd like to have them not do that anymore. How do I verify that they are the stock keys and are there different keys that will allow a bit more front end height?

Are these tough to replace? I looked under there and it seems I will only have to take down a couple brackets. The truck sits pretty level right now, if I raise the front end more can I ad blocks to the rear to level it back out again?

Where do I go about getting these different parts?

At what point do I need to start woring about my axels and drive shafts?

Thanks for any help.

Bob

Might help to know the specifics of your truck.

If it's a 1/2 ton, you'll need the keys off of a Ford 1/2 ton.

If it's a 3/4 ton, you'll need the keys off of a 1/2 ton (GM).

If it's a 1 ton, you must post pics, because I've never seen one on 35s.

I have a 2001 2500HD with 8.1/Allison 4X4

So how do I see if I may already have the 1/2 ton keys in it? Stuff like this is what sucks about buying used, I have to spend more time figuring out what I already have than upgrading.

Thanks
