Install something in the tape player location?

Recommended Posts

I am courious if anyone has installed something in the stock tape player location?

I am thinking about putting in a CB or a Private Band Radio in this location. I have the LT with the full center counsel, the truck looks too nice to mount things under the dash board.

Just wondering if anyone else had any ideas for some cool and usefull add on's in that location. I don't think I will ever use the tape player, and want to replace it.

Also what kind of antenna mounts are people running, that don't harm the reception of the CB? I am used to a jeep wranger that didn't cause much interferance with a low mounted antenna.

Can the AUX input on the radio be used as the external speaker for the CB? Although I would love to have the radio on while listening to it.

Any pics that you can share would be appreacated.

I saw a few images of a CB that fit in there, but the one that I want is a lot bigger then the hole. I am not to keen on the idea of cutting into my nice LT dashboard, the truck is still too new.

I was thinking about the 6 disk changer, but I am still unsure what I want to do.

I put a DVD player in place of the tape player I never used. I did have to enlarge the hole some but it turned out nice.

Do you have any pictures on what you did?

I Installed a CB Radio in this location this past weekend. It came out great, after some modifications to the plastic frame behind the counsuel.

I will try to get some pictures up in the next couple of days to show everyone how to do it.

It was a great mod to make.

I've got a buddy with an '02 DMax. He put his boost and egt gauges in that spot. They look sweet down there although not as convenient to look at as apposed to having them on the pillar but it sort of hides the fact that you might have something "extra" on the truck.
