Considering a 4" suspension lift

Recommended Posts

I want to level my Sierra and lift it a little. Don't want to raise it to much because I don't want to hear the fiance complain. I had a ZR-2 S-10 prior to this truck and am just looking for a stocky stance similar to what the S-10 had. I don't want to crank the t-bars etc., have done a lot of research on this and am just worried about some of the negative side affects. Will a 4" give me that stockier look I am looking for and is it worth the money to just go 4"? Any ideas on a good suspension kit and any pics of the outcome? Looking for a kit that is least evasive as possible, don't want to have to make a bunch of mods from factory. I have seen lots of pics of 6's but no 4's that I am aware of. I am new to the forum, but have been following and reading the posts for about 3 weeks. Love the site!!

Thanks for the help.

I just put a 6" on mine. I started out looking at 4" kits, but they were just as much as the 6's. I went with ProComp, but it was very evasive. It seems that the ones with the least cutting/grinding are the spindle lifts that widen the front stance. I'm very happy with mine and it rides better than stock. My wifey is prego and she can get in and out without any steps and she's 5'3". Once I put the bigger tires on, she may have a hard time, but I plan on some N-Fab steps also.

Sorry, not much help.

I personally like either rancho (http://www.gorancho.com/) or superlift (http://www.superlift.com/).

A 6" lift can really be a 4" lift depending on how you crank your torsion bars.

Another alternative is a body lift which is a lot cheaper and will let you fit some 33's. I have pics of my truck on my website http://www.chevy4x4trucks.com/ I will have the install info back up there by next weekend (in the middle of a design change and haven't gotten everything transferred over yet).

KillerZ-71: That lift looks nice!!!! Excellent job!!!!

i would try a local mechanic first, definetly not the dealership or meineke.

I would look hard for any truck accessory places in your area, chances are there is one near that can do the install. you might be better off driving 8 hours to take your truck to a reputable 4x4 shop.

start checking here for some shops.....

or do it the easy way and open the yellow pages for truck accessories and start calling some shops to see if they'll do it. Expect to pay around a grand for the install though.

If I were you, what I would do is buy all the stuff from 4wheelparts.com and drive the 3 and a half hours to there shop in Parma, Ohio and have them install it. Hopefully have a good friend who can drive you back after you drop it off and will take you there to pick it up. These are guys that install these every day and have installed hundreds so you will get a more quality install. There is also one in tennessee and north carolina, but the ohio location is the closest one.
