Lucky's Radar Detector Install

(Hope this is in the right place)

Finally got it and installed it last night at about 9:30pm, got done at 12:30am... most of the time was spent relocating the wires I ran for my Roady2 XM receiver I installed last week.

I'm really happy with it, but of course I didn't see one single patrol car on the way in this morning.

Whistler 3450 Remote Mount (concealed) Radar Detector. It displays the outside temp, so it's pretty hard to even know what it is.

Here's the pics!

Sure, movies are always ok...

Thats cool that your movie is about Magnaflow - I'm looking at adding either Magnaflow muffler or muffler/pipes in about one week. What do you have on yours....just muffler, muffler and duals?

BTW - cool GMDIY web-site...thanks!

I have a custom setup from a local shop... it's one muffler into 2 pipes, then both pipes go out the back behind the passenger side tire. Dual rolled Magnaflow tips... ahh heck, here's a pic lol.

PS

Thanks for checking out gmdiy.info hope it helps!

How does this detector rank with the others on the market. I am currently running the valentine 1, and love it. One of the best detectors that I have ever seen.

Also the mounting plate that you used around the detector, did it come with it?

Radar Roy (I think that's his name) rated it very well and said it was one of the best values for the money when compared to the V1 and Escort 8500. The range wasn't as good, but so close he said it was really good. 4 out of 5 stars, he's an ex-cop I believe and does reviews on a lot of various techniques/situations. The bezel around the detector did come with it.

I've since moved the temp sensor for my mirror to inside the cab so I have both inside and outside temp display (radar outside, mirror inside)

Yeah, checked out his site. I am undecided if I want to get a valentine one for $200 or pay about the same for one that is conceled. I am worried about the sensors being in the grill. Although it tested high in the benchmarks, no one tested them in traffic where cars will break up the signal.

I think I am just going to go with the Valentine again, their upgrade policy is amazing, and they last a long time.

Sweet install, I love the placement of the detector in the overhead..

Thanks!

One question for you... WHERE can you get a Valentine One for $200?

Look on e-bay or somewhere else for a broken one.. I got mine for about $20 bucks. Send that one in for repair (They will just send you a new one). It will only cost you $200.

It is kind of a pain, but you can do it for a lot less then the $400 they want new for them.

Kinda sneaky but it works!!!
