Hmmm.... best thing would be to get in good with your service manager !!

Depends, I'd bet. I doubt they'd cover any lower-drivetrain or suspension issues, but it shouldn't effect, say, any A/C issues, or like power accessories, etc.

But, I bet if you let them install it, they might cover it... Maybe worth asking.

Nothing "voids" your warranty. The ONLY way GM can deny your warranty is if the part or parts you have installed made the problem that your truck is in the shop for. Its the law.

Iam not even gonna get into that one, but yes it will void your warranty if any suspension related items go out from your steering box, tranny, rearend to the frame from added stress to wheel bearings and the list goes on. Just make a call to your dealer or any other dealer and ask them over the phone, they will tell you what you really need to know.

96, I wasn't going to contradict Chad, don't want him thinking I'm attacking him or anything :banghead:

We covered this once- in theory, Chad is right. In reality, he couldn't be more wrong.

Yes, I am well aware of the federal law that dictates all this. Tell that to your dealer when you pull in with a 6" lift, complaining about your front half-shafts or something suspension related :(

Ain't gonna happen. But that's why I said let them do the work, they'd probably cover it then, but you'll pay dearly for the work !!!!!! If they'd do it at all.....

Hell, I've heard of Quadrasteer owners being harassed about putting oversized tires on their trucks  EVEN when it's an optional size from the factory :shakehead:

Anything to get out of warranty work :wtf:

Awesome, awesome link, Rookie. Thanks :banghead:

But they used my example almost exactly- the aftermarket exhaust voided his power windows ?? That's ridiculous, I'm sure we'd all agree.

But I'll fall back on my lift example- lift and complain about suspension or lower drivetrain and see what happens. EVEN if there is a known problem, they'll try to worm out.

That doesn't mean you have no recourse- you can always take them to court. But many folks won't go that route, due to the extra costs involved, the time frame, etc.

I certainly agree with you about the Act, but the reality is quite different.

Just my .02

The dealer I bought my truck actually sells a NEW lifted truck. I asked them about that and the warranty issue and they said that it was done by a GM certified place in TX, so the complete warranty was in place.

There are places around here that sell them as well.

The one closest to me has a couple of lifted crew cab Dmax trucks with 20" rims and big ole' Nitto Mud Terrains on there. Along with the "Regency" conversion on them, they sticker out over 60k....But they warranty them.

Same with the Joe Gibbs trucks, as long as it comes from a "second stage manufacturer", validated through GM...They'll honor the warranty.

Sounds like the same thing. I believe the sticker for the one I saw was like in the 30's but maybe they were just trying to get rid of it too??? I know after a new truck sits for 90 days on a lot they are in a big hurry to unload it.
