Jacks

Recommended Posts

Hey - What jacks are you all using for your HDs? I'm looking to buy a new one and can't decide between a good floor jack or a bottle jack. I'm leaning towards a floor jack since I have an uneven gravel driveway. I think it would be more stable. OTOH, a bottle jack would be more versatile & would fit in the truck on road trips.

Any ideas?

I just bought a 4 ton floor jack from sears. $130 but I dont plan on ever buying another one. I have 315s on my truck so need the extra height. I dont cary it in my truck daily but will on road trips. If I get a toolbox eventually Ill probalby carry it with me all the time.

With the Northstar on the butt-end, I couldn't carry a floor jack but I could stow a heavy B. jack in the camper. I've got a red 48" Hi-Lift in the truck too, so I'm covered there.

OTOH, a good 4/ + ton floor jack would be handy for garage/drive work.

Can only get funding approved from the CFO for one though....... :banghead:

Around the garage I use a Craftsman 3 1/2 ton floor jack. It was about $100 and will lift my truck in two strokes. The first stroke will raise the jack until it meets resistance, and the second will raise it off the ground.

When I'm hunting/fishing/camping I carry a 48" hi-lift jack. I like the fact that I can do more than just lift my truck with it.

I also carry a bottle jack in my truck box. I like it for jacking up my travel trailer or boat trailer.
