Problem with PCM

Recommended Posts

04 2500hd 4x4 ext cab 6.0 all stock

I got a nelsons tune.....this one is the 2nd one--the 1st shifted too hard. This tune shifts perfectly.

I STILL can not get the crank angle learned---Allen suspected it was a bad pcm---this one is doing the same thing.

We are using a Mac Mentor to attempt the learn. The 1st one was attempted with the mentor and a Tech II.

What's the deal guys? has anyone had this problem? The Mac Mentor goes through the steps, tells you to rev past 4k --does not learn.

We tried to clear the code, it set itself immediately back, I also tried to clear the code with the engine not running and it still comes right back on.

I'm thinking there is a software problem?

I've been having a problem with my stock PCM for a while.

After a looooong diagnostic process, all indicators point to a hardware failure within the PCM.

So I've decided to save my pennies for a Westers Tune (almost there).

I just don't have the nards to open the PCM and "try" testing anything inside, seeings how it's my daily driver.

Stealership wants $85 to test the PCM, and $340 to replace it with another stock PCM. Can't see spending that since it's only $50+ shy of a tuned PCM.

Got it fixed about a week ago---I forgot about this thread. After trying it with 3 different tech II's and a Mac Mentor I was a bit concerned.

I then realized the tech II's I was using had OLD software on it. I updated one of them and sure enough---it was perfect.
