2006 ordering

Well looks like my dealer will not beable to find me a 2005 Dmax Extend Cab Long box.... So I am looking at ordering a 06... Anyone got any ideas on what is change? I heard prices are going down to be close to what Employee purchase price is now...

If I am going to have to order this truck I want a sunroof...

You'll find info about changes in recent posts to this forum. As far as GM employee discount goes, I've only heard is in the same breath as 2005 model year in local ads here (live free or die).

While the Duramax is getting 345HP 630ft lbs of torque and the BB8100 is getting 375HP 480ft lbs of torque. The Allison 5 speed is outta there and a new 6speed is in. So thats that.

Are the HP and TQ numbers changing that drastically? I could not find any info that they were changing at all for 2006. I know the towing mirrors, some colors, and a few options packages are changing. The only drivetrain/powertrain changes were the Allison 6 speed upgrade with "mode selection" and the "vortecmax" option in the 1500 4X4 lineup. I hope your right, because when I order my 07 DMax it will have at least those numbers. Awesome!

I could not find anything concrete about it. It is just a forum, the "insiders" were just guys talking. I called the dealership last night and had them read off the HP numbers out of the order brochures for the 2006 8100 and 6000. Exactly the same as this year's models. 330 HP, 450 lb-ft for the 8.1L and 300 HP, 380 lb-ft for the 6.0L. The duramax is still rated at 310 HP. He said the TQ numbers for the DMax were 615 lb-ft for 2006. He didn't know if that was true or not because an increase of 5 is not even noticable. The major HP changes are slated for 07 in the new generation Silverado/Sierra pickups. 06 is basically a continuation of the previous years just to close it out.

There's a guy there by the name of 05SilveradoSS, he's the one who mentioned the new powertrain but i dont know if he meant the new GMT900's or next year's.
